Beloved husband of 71 years to Evelyn Simpson Talley, father of Carolyn T. Pearce (Edward A. Johnston), Theodore B. Talley, Jr., and Susan G. Talley (James C. Gulotta, Jr.) and grandfather of Elizabeth Pearce, George Gulotta, Mary Louise Duhon, Laura Talley, Emily Pham, Kathryn Talley, Theodore Talley, III, Timothy Talley and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Rosa Corkern Talley, sisters Lydia T. Mitchell, Larcy T. Jones, Juanita T. Grantham, brother Branker Talley, son-in-law David M. Pearce and daughter-in-law Linda M. Talley. He was born and reared in Bush, Louisiana and a resident of Covington since 1957. A veteran of World War II, he served in Patton’s Third Army and was a member of American Legion Post #16. He and his wife owned and operated Talley’s Feed and Seed in Covington for 40 years. During the time of growing his business, he also served his community, parish and state. He was a past president of the St. Tammany Parish Fair Association, active in youth livestock programs, and a charter member of the Krewe of Olympia. He served as the first president of the Covington Chamber of Commerce and represented the 3rd Ward on the St. Tammany Parish School Board for 12 years. His service on the school board was during a time of rapid student population growth and construction of several new school buildings, including the current Covington High School campus and stadium. At the state level he served on the Louisiana Employment Security Review Board and was a committee chair of the Louisiana Retailers Association. Before moving to Covington, he was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Bush, LA. Until his death he was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington. He served many years as a deacon and choir member at both churches. He was a Past Master of the Covington Masonic Lodge. The family wishes to thank Carrie Owens, Albert Williams, and Colleen Williams for their dedicated care and support. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment in Garden of the Pines Mausoleum in Covington.
