Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2012/st1203.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Corporal Trent William Robert Blankenship , 25, died Saturday, March 10th, 2012, while in the service of our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Trent was a brave soldier and a true hero. He was an excellent USMC machine gunner and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan. He is survived by his mother, Colleen DeWalt of Covington, his brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy and Michelle Blankenship of Mandeville his wife and stepdaughter, Carly and Gianna DeConinck, grandfather Glenn Blankenship, and grandmother, Julie DeWalt. He also left behind two nephews, Preston Benjamin and Paxton Blankenship, and a niece, Peyton Blankenship. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His little cousin, Charlie DeWalt, was extremely close to Trent. He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Blankenship, his grandmother, Myrtle Blankenship, his grandfather, William DeWalt, and two Marines that he referred to as his brothers, Kyle Schnieder and John Taylor. Trent loved life and he loved his friends and family dearly. He had many friends that he considered family and their kids called him “Uncle Trent”. He had too many close friends to name but all those who knew him will never forget his bravery and sincere friendship. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11:00am. Visitation will be from 9:00am until 11:00am. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA., where he will join his fallen Marine brothers.
