Preceded in death by his parents, Max and Ruth Van Sandt. Survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Betty, the light of his life. Brother of Barry Van Sandt (Janis) and Marcia Smith (Edsel). Father of Cindy Guthrie Suarez, Jerri Guthrie Reeves, and Scott Van Sandt. “Granddad” to Dylan Suarez, Calli Reeves, Leah Suarez, and great-granddaughter, Savanna Broom. Also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Van was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, and lived in many places before settling in Slidell. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight instructor and pilot of both fixed-wing planes and helicopters.
