Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2012/st1203.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== John Laird Warden, Sr., husband, Daddy, Papa and friend, went to join his Lord and Savior and his son, James (Jim) Lemke Warden, who predeceased him by 6 months and 4 days, on Friday, March 30, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on April 19, 1935 in Pontiac, MI to the late Bert Joel Warden and Helen Mow Warden. He attended Carson Long Military Institute, New Bloomfield, PA and served five years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. A resident of Slidell since 1963, John achieved many things. He volunteered as Cub Master of Pack #344, Florida Ave School, serving for each of his sons. He also founded the first Sea Scout Troop in Slidell, procuring the ship “Jambalaya”. He served as a reserve officer with the Slidell Police Department Auxillary and was a member of Northshore Church. He retired from Chrysler Space Division-Michoud. John and Kay, his wife of 58 years, founded Creative Picture Framing and Art Gallery, Inc., in 1971. He was a state licensed building contractor. After working together all day, John and Kay would enjoy social activites such as square and round dancing as well as bowling leagues. John also had many diverse interests, which included Automobile shows, fishing, woodworking, tennis and building homes. He was very proud of his fruit bearing trees and shared the bounty with others. His family is happy to have had such happy memories of the man that so many loved and admired. So as the story goes, he is survived by his wife Kay Lemke Warden, his children, Helen Kay Warden of Slidell, John L. Warden, Jr.(Judy), of Oneonta, AL, Linda D. Warden-Sebastian(Alex) of Beaver, PA, his sisters, Carolyn Dalby of MI., Patty Welsh(Randy) of Ca., and his faithful toy poodles, Fefe and Mandy. He was Papa to seven grandchildren, Daniel Warden, J. Lance Warden, Jessica L. Warden-Alldredge, Jacob L. Warden, Terence Fallon, Jr., Brandi Young and J. Lacey Warden. Proud great grandfather of eight. He was predeceased by his much missed father and mother-in-law, Archie M. and Myrtle Kent Lemke, brothers William, Ronald, Carl and Bennie Warden, sister, Dianne Warden and his step mother, Jessica Hoff Warden. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Dr. Larry McEwen, officiating. Interment in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY. Visitation on Saturday after 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.
