Preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth Lee Watkins Baldwin. Born June 12, 1920 to Julia Lise Freret and Lawrence J. Baldwin, Sr. Father of Elizabeth B. Barkerding, John Thomas Moore Baldwin, Christopher Bouligny Baldwin, Mary Pike B. Barkerding, Sarah Deslonde B. Davies. Grandfather of Maria B. Johnson (Noel), Elizabeth B. Talbot (Mark), Robert Barkerding (Nicole), Bruce Barkerding (Amy), Caroline B. Stedman (Matthew), John Baldwin, Jr., (Christina), Richard Baldwin (Jennifer), Anne Baldwin, Beau Barkerding (Mallory), Baldwin Barkerding (Caroline), Pike Barkerding, and the late Chad Mendel. Great-grandfather of Lawrence and Emily Johnson, Elizabeth and Patrick Talbot, Skylar, Matthew, and Grace Barkerding, and Landry Barkerding. Father-in-law of Robert R. Barkerding, Jr., Theodore F. Barkerding, Jr. and Nancy S. Baldwin. Brother of Simonne B. Brown and the late James M. Baldwin, Richard C. Baldwin and Julia Lise Baldwin. Age 91 years. A native of New Orleans, and a resident of Covington, LA. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington and served on the Parish Council. He was a member of The Boston Club, The Knights of Columbus and The American Legion. He served on the boards of The Catholic Foundation of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Notre Dame Seminary, St. Joseph Abbey, The Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Regina Coeli and The Greater New Orleans United Way. He received the honor of Knight of St. Gregory Award from Pope John Paul II and The Order of St, Louis Medal. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant and was a member of the “Jolly Rogers,” the 90th Bombardment Group. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Air Medal Unit Citation. He was awarded the Lincoln- Mercury franchise for Covington in 1950 and opened Baldwin Motors and later served on the Lincoln-Mercury National Dealer Council. He was a pioneer in automotive leasing and owner of St. Tammany Leasing Co. The family would like to thank his dedicated caregivers and the nurses and staff of Lakeshore Hospice for their devoted care of our father. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457 on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Visitation at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Friday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses or donations to The Catholic Foundation or United Way of St. Tammany. ===================
