She was a native of Woodside, La., a resident of New Orleans for 53 years, and Covington for the past 14 years. Mrs. Prentice was a former Miss Louisiana in 1939. She was a graduate of Melville High School and Soule' Business College. She was the executive secretary to the president of R. K. Goode Company for over 30 years. Mrs. Prentice was a founding member of Encore. She was an amazing cook, seamstress, a devoted Christian and Catholic, but most of all a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all that knew her. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Hart Mayberry and Carol Jean Hart D'Argonne both of Covington,. She survived her late husband of 28 years, Joseph Edward Hart, who died in 1971. She is the sister to Josephine Galiano of Metairie, Joseph Canal of Baton Rouge, Catherine C. Maloney of Covington, and the late Peter Canal, Anna Deliberto, Constance Canal, and Carlo Canal. She is the daughter of the late Loretta and Annie Torina Canal; grandmother of E. Wayne Mayberry, III and Joseph Edward Mayberry both of Covington, Kimberly Ann Mayberry of Bogalusa, and Christopher Patrick Wristers and wife Dana of Houston. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Colin Mayberry, Graham, Morgan, and Dylan Wristers, and by many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, April 9, 2012, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, Interment followed in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
