He was the beloved husband of the late Audrey Turner Slotness for 65 years; son of the late John and Johanna Slotness and brother of the late Lester, Arthur and Oscar Slotness. He is survived by his loving nephews and nieces, Richard (Dick) Slotness, Stephen (Steve) Slotness, Dale Slotness, Cheryl Slotness, all of Duluth, Minn., Sandra Abrahamson of Minneapolis, Richard (Dick) Feddeck of Madisonville, Angus T. Olson of Fairfax, Va,, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Isabel T. Sommers of Metairie. He was a native of Duluth, Minn., and a resident of New Orleans and Lacombe since 1940. Ray, to all who knew him, was an avid sailor and an honorary life member of the New Orleans Yacht Club and was a Past Commodore. He was a member of the Bayou Lacombe Masonic Lodge 459 and a retired supervisor for American Standard Company.
