Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2012/st1205.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Billie Gene Gray (Bill) was born the second son and third child of the late Leonard and Martha Ely Gray on May 19, 1943, in Creola, Ala. He exchanged his earthly life for an eternal life with God on May 20, 2012. In the community of Creola, he was known for his natural athletic abilities and intellect. He was also known for his many years of service as a security guard at Slidell Memorial Hospital. Following graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, based primarily at Chanute Air Force base, in Rantoul, Ill. While stationed at Rantoul, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Robertson. Over the years he became grounded in the word of God and in addition to being a teacher of the Word, he was selected to become a deacon at Second Baptist Church, in Danville Ill., Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, in Slidell and most recently, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, in Gulfport, Miss. He leaves to mourn two loving and devoted daughters: Tonya (Jeffrey) Collins of Slidell and Nicole (Irven) Cousin of Mobile, Ala.; six beloved grandchildren: LaTonia and Jaden Collins (Slidell) and Nicolas, I’zaria, Joy and Irven III (Mobile); one great granddaughter, Laila Smith (Slidell); one brother and best friend Leonard (Eddie) Gray; five loving sisters Margaret Ash, Lillian Phillips, Theresa Russell and Joyce (Willie) Roberson of Mobile and Rosa Tucker of Dayton Ohio; and many inlaws, nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Martha Gray, his wife Mary Gray, and a dear friend Ruthie Jackson. Funeral services will be held at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, today at 11 a.m. Viewing begins at 9 a.m. ===================
