Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2012/st1206.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== A resident of Mandeville, La and native of Cincinatti, OH, Jack Allen Gruenig died Sunday morning June 10, 2012, at Lakeview Regional Hospital in Mandeville. He was 80 years old, born October 9, 1931. He worked as an Optician in the Eyecare Industry until he retired at age 70. He also was a U.S. Air Force Veteran during the time of the Korean War as an instrument mechanic. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include his two sons and daughter; Gary Gruenig of New Orleans, Jackie Gruenig of Metairie and Rod Gruenig of Mandeville. There are five surviving grandchildren, Max Gruenig, Gerald Gruenig, Nicholas Lambeth, Jonathan Gruenig and Sammy Gruenig; and one great-grandchild Sophie Gruenig. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Battistella Gruenig of New Orleans, LA.; his youngest son, John Gruenig of Pass Christian, MS.; and his parents Alfred Ferdinand Gruenig and Elizabeth Gruenig both from Delafont, Switzerland. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Jerry Hobren. Visitation on Tuesday will be from 9:00 AM until service time.
