Howell

Margaret “Margie” Schloegel Howell of Talisheek, 67, passed away Monday, May 
28, 2012.

The New Orleans native, who attended Mercy Academy and earned a bachelor’s 
degree from Loyola University, worked for 25 years and retired as a Sixth Ward 
Junior High School special education teacher. She received the Teacher of the 
Year honor twice, having dedicated her life to improving the lives of her 
students. She also was active in the community, helping people earn graduate 
equivalent degrees.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Howell, and her son and daughter, David 
and Heidi Swartz. Howell was preceded in death by her parents, John and 
Madeline Schloegel, and her brother, John Schloegel.

Margie will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a kind and generous 
woman and teacher who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating and 
gardening. She was extremely creative, delighting her children and students by 
always coming up with new and exciting ways to teach, reach and make an impact 
on each person. She will be missed.
