He was born April 26, 1915 in Albany, NY to the late Sam and Mary Pagano Spadaro. The beloved husband of Catherine Corte Spadaro for 64 years, he is survived by his son, James J. Spadaro, M.D. (Liz); four daughters: Mary Margaret Miller (Chuck), Nancy S. Hilbert D.V.M. (William, M.D.), Cathy S. Parker (P. Craig, M.D.) and Jean S. Vossen (Dave); one brother, Carmen Spadaro; two sisters, Angeline Spadaro and Jennie Prunner; 10 grandchildren: Rebecca Miller Gardner, Joshua Miller, Stephanie Spadaro, Elisa Spadaro Moore, James J. Spadaro III, Lauren Hilbert Gross, Kevin and Justin Hilbert, Paul and Catie Parker and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Spadaro and two sisters, Rose Mezzatesta and Anne Cavallo. A graduate of Syracuse University, he lived and worked for 40 years as a chemical engineer with USDA at the Southern Regional Research Laboratory in New Orleans. During WWII he researched synthetic rubber as a crucial part of the war effort. He was part of an official scientific and technical liaison mission to China in 1980 as well as a technical advisor to Peru in 1979. He authored over 200 technical papers and was the holder of over 75 patents pertaining to oilseed products. After his retirement he spent the last 22 years in Tchefuncte Club Estates. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of the R.O.B.’s. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family as he did most recently last Sunday celebrating his 64th wedding anniversary. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin Saturday at 12:00 Noon. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred. ===================
