Martin is survived by his wife Lolita (Lee); his five children and their spouses David and his partner Richard, Stephen and Stacey, Deanne and Billy Legrand, Karen and Russ Fleig and Susan and Brett Beaudean; his brother Robert Wohlgemuth and sister Ann Hoerning. He had 11 grandchildren, Janet, Jillian and Joseph Wohlgemuth, Christopher, Stephen and Rachel Legrand, R. Zachary, Kyle and Sam Fleig and Brinn and Brooke Beaudean and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kamden Lubin. Martin celebrated life to the fullest, surrounded by a large family and a love of New Orleans. Born in West Orange, NJ, Martin moved to New Orleans after his Air Force career to work as an air traffic controller. His love of art translated into a career he enjoyed for the last 30 years. Martin was a fixture on the arts scene and a member of the New Orleans Arts Council, the New Orleans Art Association (director of the Audubon Zoo Swamp Fest), and also served on the board of the Madisonville Art Market. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Monday from 1:00 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Martin to be made to the New Orleans Arts Council or the St. Thomas Community Health Center, 1020 St. Andrew St., New Orleans, LA 70130.
