Beloved husband of Patricia Welch Ament for the past 21 years. Father of James Ament (Debbie) and Susan Ament (Jimmy). Step-father of Wendy Bird (James). Son of the late William Luther Ament and Niceti Faye Guffey Ament. Brother of the late William L. Ament, Jr. and Susan Marie Ament. Also survived by 4 grandchildren; Christina, Jillian, Samantha, and Isabella Ament ; great grandson Sawyer Ament; step-grandfather of Andrew and Sydney Bird. Age 67 years; a native of St. Louis, MO and a resident of Slidell for the past 25 years. Mr. Ament served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired as a Telephone Splicer for Bell South after 38 dedicated years. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion and also the National Rifle Association. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, movies, eating and gaming. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.
