Born December 21, 1923, he graduated from Fortier High School. Later, he graduated in Radio Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in Groton, Connecticut. He served as Communications Chief on the Destroyer Escort USS Joyce in the North Atlantic during World War II. He was the former owner and operator of H.D. Bacon Money Handling Products and E.F. Keplinger & Son. Doug was a 50 year member of the New Orleans Power Squadron and a Commander of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Keplinger Bacon and Henry Douglas Bacon, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Allene Patterson Bacon; three daughters, Linda Bacon Koerner, Deborah Bacon Covington and Renee’ Bacon Thompson; one son, Henry Douglas Bacon, IV; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 12:00 noon with visitation on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time.
