He was born on June 23, 1943, in Bloomington, Ill., to Gerald Edward and Laura Jane Auld Gotschall. He attended McDonough High School in New Orleans and Covington High School, Southwestern at Memphis and Louisiana State University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and the University of Georgia, where he pursued a doctorate degree. He worked as a DSI Systems seismic processor in Houston and a Tracor defense electronics engineer in Austin, Texas. He later joined the Peace Corps and taught college and high school math and physics in the Republic of Kiribati. After retirement, he lived in Conroe, Texas, and Decatur, Ga. He enjoyed fatherhood, pets, reading, sailing, golf and family gatherings. He is survived by his wife, Teboota Tabaa, and ex-wife, Isobel Hibbs; daughters, Summer, Sarah and her husband, Hany Soliman, and Ioanna “Io”; a grandchild, Leeby; and siblings, David and his wife, Kay Pennington, Ann and her husband, Edward Sharp, and Glenn and his wife, Ann Bulman, and loved ones in La., Neb., Texas, Ga., and Kiribati. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Etita. Memorial services will be later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the medical mission Amigos de Texas, Inc., ===================
