Beloved wife of the late Frank D. Hopkins for 61-1/2 years. Beloved mother of Craig (Joy), Brother K (Carole), Mark (Tala), Steve (Lisa) Hopkins and Judith Hopkins Budwig. Grandmother of Beth and Kathryn Emma Budwig, Tekla Babyak, Benjamin and Daniel Hopkins. Step-grandmother of Steve Jackson (Lana) and Deborah Jackson Virgillio. Step-greatgrandmother of Chelsea and Kyle Virgillio and Kaitlyn and Zachary Jackson. Evie was a loving person of deep faith and courage who lived life to the fullest. Along with her husband she was an avid golfer who got a total of 5 holes-in-one. She also got her pilot's license at the age of 55. Born on June 21, 1923 in Rayne, La. After marrying, Evie lived in Miami, New Orleans, Sparta, New Jersey, and Dauphin Island, Alabama before moving to the Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, Louisiana in 2001. She was the daughter of the late William Erle Craig and Mary Lula Deshotels. She was preceded in death by her 4 siblings Mary Loula Craig, Dorothy Craig, William Erle Craig, Jr. and Lucille Craig Schlicher. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. No one who met Evie could ever forget her beautiful smile. She was a positive person who looked forward to each day, rising very early to walk and exercise before meeting her friends for breakfast, lunch, and other activities. She entered several local races in recent years crossing the finish line with her walker, always smiling. The family expresses its sincere appreciation to the skilled nursing staff at Christwood for their compassionate care of Evie for the past 4-1/2 months; and much gratitude to the staff and residents of the Christwood community for their loving support, friendship, and kindnesses to Evie over the past 11 years. Private interment will be at Pinecrest Cemetery with Father Frank of St. Anselm's Catholic Church officiating. A memorial will be held to celebrate Evie's life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Sept. 8th in the Garden Room at Christwood for all family and friends who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the John Lohman Fund at Christwood RC, 100 Christwood Blvd, Covington, LA 70433. ===================
