KAPFER

Joan Eva Nyreen Kapfer, 86, died Saturday, July 21, 2012.

The native of Portal, N.D., was the daughter of the late Gladys Wood and Morris 
Nyreen and a longtime member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband and 
best friend, William A. “Bill” Kapfer, and brother Lowell Nyreen. 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Brian Katan of 
Wichita, Kan.; sons, Doug Kapfer and Jo of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Greg Kapfer 
and Laurie of McLean, Va.; grandchildren, Katie Kapfer Litton and Daniel, Steve 
Kapfer, Chelsea Katan, Will Kapfer and Michael Katan; great-grandchildren, 
Sarah and Kristopher Litton; Sister, Lois Scofield of Spokane, Wash.; brothers 
and sister-in-laws, Austin and Nancy Nyreen of Rainier, Wash., and Mick and 
Gail Nyreen of Renton, Wash., and nieces, nephews and friends.

Celebratory funeral services were July 24 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. 
Interment followed at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.

Memorial contributions may be to the Kapfer Scholarship Fund, Fountain of Life 
Lutheran Church, 323 Hopkins Road, Kernersville, N.C., 27284; Hospice of 
Forsyth, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C., 27101, or the United Service
