Gary R. “POPPA” Raymond, 69, died Monday, July 16, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sylvia Avera Raymond; beagle, 
Driveway, and cat, Poopie; daughter and son-in-law, Renee an Ricky Cassanova; 
son, Troy Raymond; two granddaughters and their fiances, Suzannah Cassanova and 
Doug McRae and Briannah Cassanova and Chase Gray; great-grandson, Chandler 
Gray; siblings, Edna Penton and Kevin Raymond; sister-in-law and brother, 
Rebbie and Scott Raymond, and Sylvia “Mimi” Avera and other friends.

Raymond, who was known for his sense of humor, great stories and wonderful 
cooking, retired from the New Orleans Police Department in 1981, having worked 
for 16 years.

As per his request, there will be no formal service. 
A Celebration of Life will be July 21 from 2-5 p.m. at the family home in 
Covington.

Arrangements are by Bagnell & Son Funeral Home of Covington.
