John W. Walters Sr., 76, of Slidell died Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

He was the husband of Ouida LaBurthe Walters for the last 54 years; father of 
Stephanie Andrea Walters of Slidell, John W. and Marta Walters Jr., of Pearl 
River, and Todd Jeffrey and Alison Walters of Brandon, Fla. He was the son of 
the late Charlotte Gibbs and Calvin Walters; brother of Rex Walters, Arden 
McDougal and the late Ralph and Byron Walters, Maxine Walters and Romaine 
Ollom. He also is survived by three grandchildren: Christine, Johnny Walters 
III and Jillian Walters.

The native of Clarington, Ohio, was a former New Orleans resident who lived in 
Slidell for the last 17 years.

The U.S. Army veteran was a retired New Orleans Police Department sergeant.

Funeral services will be July 28 at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 9 p.m. 
at Honaker Funeral Home, Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 W. Gause Blvd., Slidell.
