The Slidell certified public accountant and U.S. Army veteran had worked for the Internal Revenue Service and was retired. He was an American Legion Hall 374 member who had daily breakfast with his “crew.” He was the husband of Sharyn Fayard Gant; father and father-in-law of Nicole Gant-Brogden and Judd Brogden, Richard Dale and Tracy and Michael Austin Gant; grandfather of Ayden and Seth Brogden, and Regan, Samantha and Owen Gant; son of Jennie Abney and the late Elmer C. Gant; brother and brother-in-law of Tommy and Phyllis Gant and Davy and Sandra Gant; stepfather and stepfather-in-law of Michelle Fayard, Brian and Darla Mann, Michael and Missy Fayard and Brenda and Eric Hillhouse; step grandfather of Aubery, Brock, Olivia, Gavin and Katilyn Fayard, Courtney, Cameron and Carlee Hillhouse, and Jaylynn Fayard and Tyler Mann. He also is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great- nephews and great-nieces. Graveside services will be Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Slidell.
