A native and life resident of Covington, she was born December 10, 1921 to the late Ralph Norman and Lucy Welsh Texada Menetre. The beloved wife of the late James “Jimmy” McLachlan, Jr., she is survived by five children: Meg Cammatte (Herbert), Lucy Burns (Craig), Laurie Caserta (Donald), James McLachlan, III (Jackie), Andrew Thompson McLachlan (Pauline)and her brother, Ralph N. Menetre, Jr. Margaret had 15 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. One grandson, Mac Burns, preceded her in death. She has been a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she served on the Alter Guild from the age of 8 until her late 80’s, served on the vestry and volunteered at St. Tammany Parish Hospital for 40+ years. She graduated from Lyon High School in 1938, where she was Salutatorian, Homecoming Queen and an all state basketball player. She attended LSU for three years where she was member of Delta Zeta Sorority, chosen Little Colonel by the ROTC and was also involved in many local organizations. Family and friends are invited to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 for visiting hours on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6- 9:00 PM. Funeral services from Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433 will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 18, 2012. A celebration of Margaret’s life will immediately follow services at Christ Church’s Parish Hall. Interment will be private and take place later. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Khan-Salam, St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Christwood, Hospice of St. Tammany, her devoted sitter Pearl Spell and constant companion and friend, Sonny the miniature Dachshund. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Chapel or Christ Episcopal Memorial Garden, Hospice of St. Tammany and the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers are grandsons Burk Burkhalter, Pete Burkhalter, Andrew Burkhalter, David Caserta, Jay Caserta, Mac McLachlan, Michael McLachlan and Drew McLachlan. Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Menetre, III (Nephew), Gordon Broussard (grandson-in-law), Jaeson Maravich (grandson) and Josh Maravich (grandson). ===================
