JOSEPH CLAY ANTHONY “J.C.” OUDER, 83, died on Thursday, August 16, 2012, in 
Slidell, La., where he was a native and lifelong resident. 

He leaves behind his wife, Ruth McCoy Ouder, and children Betty Upton Watson 
(Mike), James “Jim” Upton (Tanya) and Paula Ouder (Margaret Pierce). The Ouders 
have nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

J.C. was a loving husband and father, and he will be dearly missed by many 
friends, in-laws and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his 
parents, Joseph Clay and Regina Marcotte Ouder; his only sibling, Thelma Ouder 
Scogin; and two children, Ronald Upton (Sheryl Harris) and Kimberly Upton Smith 
(Smitty).

J.C. attended Slidell High School and served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. 
He retired from Halliburton after 35 years of service, where he worked in the 
oil fields of the Gulf of Mexico as a cementer.

He fought lymphoma with bravery and humor for four years and enjoyed relatively 
good health until the last two weeks of his life. He was attended by St. Joseph 
Hospice.


Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation and 
funeral. Funeral Services will be held at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,
1751 Gause Blvd. West (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell,
on Monday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m.


Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 6-9 p.m. 
and on Monday at the funeral home after 11 a.m.

Burial will be in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
