Beloved wife of the late William H. “Ham” Redford. Loving mother of Marilynn Sorrel (Gordon) and Marcus N. Redford (Jo Ann). Daughter of the late Bishop Welcome and Ruby Dee Warrick. Sister of the late Betty Sawyer of Jacksonville, TX and Norma Briley of Houma, LA. Grandmother of Todd Andrew Sorrel, Ty Gordon Sorrel, Neil Douglas Redford and Luke Andrew Redford. Great-grandmother of Paige Elizabeth and John Moxley Sorrel. The Redford Family resided in Midland, Texas from 1955 until 1967 when the oil industry called them to New Orleans, Louisiana. Merle worked as a draftsman for the New Orleans City Planning Commission until she retired in 1980, as work was crimping her busy lifestyle and traveling plans. After moving north of the lake in 2000 she spent her days gardening, painting, making stained glass windows, traveling, cooking, entertaining, and playing bridge. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Mrs. Redford to be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174 (calfarley.org). ===================
