He was a longtime self-employed welder who enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with his children on school fieldtrips and volunteering for 4-H and FFA and other groups. He especially loved boiling peanuts. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Ann Keating Corkern of Franklinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Tammy Corkern, Brandon and Brittany Fussell, all of Franklinton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Meleny L. and Donovan Killeen of Abita Springs and Jenette Cotton of Folsom; seven grandchildren, Hunter Corkern, Jessica Killeen, Amanda Killeen, Blair Fussell, Nicholas Cotton, Simon Cotton and Ray Cotton; three great-grandchildren, Jessie, Savannah and Jordan Lee Cotton; a sister, Virginia Bateman of Franklinton; half brother, Rickey Corkern of Folsom; stepbrothers, Jerry M. and Charles Barber, both of Franklinton, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer N. and Laura Mae Caves Corkern, and brother, James C. “Jimmy” Corkern. A funeral service was Sept. 9 at Crain Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial followed in the Magee Cemetery in Enon. Pallbearers were Ray and Nicholas Cotton, Michael Paul Bateman, Michael Keating, Scott Jenkins and Adam Jenkins; honorary pallbearers were Brandon Fussell, Simon Cotton, Mike Fussell and Dewitt Perry Jr. ===================
