FUSSELL

Raymond Eugene Fussell, 76, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Reba Lee O’Berry Fussell; children and 
their families, Cheryl and Carol, Guy and Darline and Liz; grandson and his 
wife, Patrick Eugene and Melissa Fussell, and a host of cousins and friends. He 
was preceded in death by his parents, Mae Elizabeth Davis and O.V. Fussell; 
brother, Ronnie Fussell, and mother and father-in-law, Annie Evans and Harvey 
O’Berry.

The Covington native who also lived near Covington as a newlywed for the past 
24 years was a resident of Sevier County, Tennessee. The hard-working man 
raised his family in Hickory, attending all of his children’s events, coaching 
basketball and helping his son with his sheep. 
He served a four-year term on the St. Tammany Parish School Board and worked 
for Standard Materials, operating heavy construction equipment. He also 
fostered youth activities and passed on his love of family and community as 
pastor of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Hickory and later Pine 
Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Purvis, Miss., and Union Valley Missionary 
Baptist Church in Tennessee. He was a Gists Creek Baptist Church member in 
Tennessee.

A celebratory memorial service will be Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., with visitation 
starting at 5, at Rawlings Funeral Home, 212 Court Ave., Sevierville, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations requested to the FUTURE Program at the University 
of Tennessee, mailed to College of Education – Development Office, A-305 Bailey 
Education Complex, 1122 Volunteer Blvd. Knoxville, TN, 37996.
