Loving wife of the late Calvin Moody Howell for 24 years. Devoted mother of Edwin Howell (Peggy), Dreux Howell (Denise), Carolyn Gaspard (Danny), Eric Howell (April), Eileen Pfefferle (Billy), James Howell (Todd Breckman), Trent Howell (Julie), Michael Jon Howell (Debra) and the late Calvin Gerard Howell. Sister of Wayne Hymel (Adine), David Clement(Benita), Doug Clement and the late EJ Clement. Granny to Jason, Chad, Scott, Bradley, Nickie, Ryan, Troy, Matthew, Kirsten, Tyler, Dominic, Jeremy and Nicholas and great grandmother of nine. Also survived by numerous nephews and great nieces and nephews. Shirley dedicated her life to the physical and spiritual needs of others. She was born in Convent, LA and settled in Metairie, LA, as a Hotel Dieu Registered Nurse of childbirth and delivery and a Lamaze instructor, she shared her love of motherhood. Shirley and Calvin partnered in several successful privately owned businesses while touching many young children through the Boy/Girl Scouts of America Troops. Shirley was always improving through further education of Healing Touch, American Holistic Nursing Association and Jin Shin Jyutsu. Later in life, her growing devotion to Christ lead her to become an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at St. Jane de Chantal, Parish High School Catechist instructor, Sodality of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph, St. Joseph Altar of St. Anselm, and member of the Lay Carmelite Order. Visitation : Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Jane Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA on Saturday, October 27 at 12:00 noon. Visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:45 am until Mass time. Interment immediately following at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie, LA. ===================
