Dean Schween, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Yvonne; children, Jeanette Schween Uhl, 
Jay Dean Schween and Joanne Schween Latapie; granddaughters, Mackenzie and 
Bailey Schween; grandsons, August and Blake Latapie; a brother, Don Schween; 
nephew and niece, Lyle Schween and Leanne Schween Archer, and daughter- and 
sons-in-law, Michelle Villar Schween, Phil Latapie Jr., and Jerry Uhl. He was 
preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin and Melford.

The native of Bazine, Kan., was in the U.S. Air Force for eight years and moved 
to Slidell to start a family with his wife in 1964. He worked for many years at 
the NASA Michoud complex and joined Cooper Energy Services before retiring in 
1992.

A celebration gathering will be held Oct. 20 from 1-3 p.m. at the family home, 
3636 Brookwood Drive, Slidell.

In lieu of flowers, donations requested to his favorite charity, Children’s 
Hospital, New Orleans.
