He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lana Holmes Griffin; his beloved daughters, Michele G. Seiler (Scott) and Stacey G. Callender (Wendell); his cherished grandson, Taylor J. (his “Podnuh”) Elkins; three step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Stuart and Shaun Seiler; sister-in-law, Linda H. Breaux (the late Edward); nephews, Derek Breaux (Adrienne) and their children, Jordan and Gracie and Collin Breaux. He was the only son of the late Jessie Schallenberg Griffin and Loris T. Griffin, Sr. He will be missed dearly by his family and will be fondly remembered as an especially devoted proud and loving husband, father and Paw-Paw, who valued and treasured his family immensely. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments, cared deeply about their well being and provided them with his whole-hearted support. The legacy he imparted to his family was to instill the importance of commitment and responsibility for themselves and to others. Generally known as a quiet man, he was generous of heart and gentle of spirit, a good listener and friend. His enjoyments were hunting, fishing, history discussions and cooking. He retired from the New Orleans Fire Department in 1992 as a captain, working mostly at Engine #7, Rescue Squad, Engine #9 and Ladder #2. He was a member of Firefighters Local #632. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 12:00 noon with visitation on Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Mr. Griffin to be made to The Salvation Army. ===================
