She was born March 30, 1933 in Easton, MD, to the late Manville and Louise Arnie. A Slidell resident for the past seven years, Mary Lou spent her childhood on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in the town of Preston, but lived for years in New Orleans, overseas in the Dominican Republic and in Panama. She graduated from Western Maryland College with a bachelor’s degree in science in 1955 and received a master’s degree in education from the University of Alabama in 1974. Mary Lou was the beloved wife of Col. Edward “Ed” Kelly for 57 years. She is survived by her husband Ed, and her children: Michael Kelly (wife Gaylyn), Kathleen Kelly, Shawn Kelly, Patrick Kelly (wife Kristina), and Colleen Kelly. She is also survived by 10 Kelly grandchildren: Garrett, Ian, Brennan, Grant; Carlos, Victoria, Christian, Alexander, Isabella, and Lacey Moneymaker. She is survived by brother Charles Arnie (wife Jean), sister Rosalie Messick (husband Jack), and by many former students and close friends, who she lovingly “adopted” as family. Visitation will be held at the Honaker Funeral Home located at 1751 Gause Blvd. West in Slidell on Saturday, November 10, from 10-11:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Noon on Saturday, Nov.10, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell located at 3924 Berkley Street. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, an appreciated form of sympathy would be memorial gifts to an education fund for her grandchildren, which can be made out to Shawn Kelly and sent to 4722 SW 67th Ave. #A-4, Miami, FL 33155. ===================
