Daryl Stephen Nichols was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012. On October 4, 1948 Daryl was born to Ocie Mae and Harold Nichols in DeRidder, LA. Daryl attended Northwestern University where he studied Electronic Engineering. He was a valued employee of the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office as a computer operator/technician until he passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mandeville, LA. Daryl is survived by his devoted wife, Daryl Ann Owens; his beloved daughter, Laura Elizabeth Nichols; and his cherished son, Benjamin Jude Nichols. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kayla, Ben, Stephen and Chris. Daryl leaves behind a host of family members and numerous friends. Daryl was completely devoted to his four legged family members, Roxie and Winnie. Daryl spent his life nurturing his friendships which were the fabric of his life. His passion was researching his ancestry and that of his friends as well. Daryl was a gentle loving giant of a man, first to God his maker, then to his family and multitudes of friends. He was an avid Facebook user, computer genius, lover of animals and people, and an amazing cook. A memorial service in Daryl’s honor will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4375 Louisiana Hwy 22, Mandeville, LA 70471 at 12:00 Noon with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association would be most appreciated. ===================
