Beloved husband of Deloris O’Donnell for 66 years. Father of Daryl M. O’Donnell and spouse Barbara Greene O’Donnell. Grandfather of Dana O’Donnell Pipkin, Jeffrey Mark, Gregory John and Katherine “Katie” O’Donnell. Great-grandfather of Paisley Renee O’Donnell, Kinley Elizabeth O’Donnell and Hannah Katherine Pipkin. A native of East Orange, NJ, a former longtime resident of New Orleans and a resident of the Northshore area for the past 35 years. He was a retired Lt. with NOPD having served as Commander of the Homicide Division. He served in WWII as a Deck Officer in the Army Transportation Corp. Prior to his illness he was an avid tennis player and sailor. He was a member of the Pontchartrain Yacht Club and St. Jane de Chantel Catholic Church in Abita Springs. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to ALSA, 1275 K. St. NW, STE 1050, Washington D.C. 20005.
