Warren was born in Freer, Texas on December 5, 1944 to the late Howard T. and Naomi L. Sander. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bertha “Bert” Sander and their two adult children, Darren Dale Sander (Nichelle) of Austin, Texas and Amber Dawn Landry (Danny) from Jennings, La. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Naomi Kate, Logan Andrew, Caleb Michael, & Matthew Paul Landry and Gavin Kristofer Sander. Survivors also include brother, Alvin J. Sander of San Antonio, Texas and sister, Cynthia Gail Cook (Dean) of Victoria, Texas and brother-in-law, Art Zuehlke of Houston, Texas plus four nephews and one niece. One Sister-in-Law preceded him in death, Norita Starnes Sander and Mother and Father-in-Law, Herman and Malinda Zuehlke. Warren retired from Halliburton after 20 years of service and served a tour with the U.S. Army in southeast Asia (Thailand) during the war in Vietnam. He was a Charter Member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Slidell where he served as Head Usher for 8 years and presently served as usher. He was a member of the Slidell Elks Lodge and has been instrumental in providing memorabilia to the historical display cabinet at the Southeast Louisiana Council of the Boy Scouts of America service center in Metairie. Warren entered the BSA when he was 11 years old and served as a Scouting volunteer since 1970 when he became a Cubmaster in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Since that time he served as a Merit Badge Counselor and was the Chairman of the Cypress District Advancement Committee, A Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, he earned the Scouter Key, Scouter’s Training Award, District Award of Merit and is Wood Badge trained. Warren has served on staff for many events including Adventure Base 100, Cub Scout Day Camp, Camporall and Cub World. He has earned his “50” Year Veteran pin. He was the Program Chairman at BSA Summer Camp at Camp V-Bar in Mississippi. Currently he was the Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 327 sponsored by St. Luke Catholic Church. Warren was also the Coordinator for the Cypress District BSA for the Heritage Festival sponsored by the Rotary Club for many years. For noteworthy service to the community and Scouting on a unit, district, and Council Level, and with concurrence of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Southeast Louisiana Council presented the Silver Beaver Award to Warren Sander in 2011. Warren’s Memorial will be at The Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 57210 Allen Rd, Slidell, La. 70461 Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11: 00 am. Visitation at the church on Saturday in the Sanctuary from 10:00 am until Service time. ===================
