Vera Elisabeth Nilsson Werner, 83, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Rick Lewis of 
Slidell; grandchildren, William, Karl and Ellarose Lewis of Slidell, and 
sister, Ranghild Grimaldi of Maryland. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sixten and Judith Nilsson of Avesta, 
Sweden, and sister, Ulla Kandell of Stockholm, Sweden.

Born in New York City to immigrants who later returned to Avesta, Sweden, the 
outstanding high school religion, history and social studies teacher impacted 
many students during her teaching career in Sweden, after being a Ford Agency 
fashion model. 
Upon retirement, she relocated to the United States and traveled extensively. 
She was a faithful Christian who lived the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ 
daily, having a passion for life and helping others.

In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Colorado Boys Ranch, 14143 
Denver W. Parkway, Suite 100, Golden, CO, 80401, and The Hospice of St. 
Tammany, 1202 S. Tyler, Covington, LA, 70433.

Graveside services will be Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Salmen Family Plot, 
Greenwood Cemetery, Old Towne Slidell.
