He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Octavia Wilson Maginnis; his brothers Donald A. Maginnis Jr., John H. Maginnis and Gordon H. Maginnis; and his parents, Donald A. Maginnis Sr. and Ruth Hobson Maginnis. He is survived by his children Malcolm G. Maginnis Jr., Duncan H. Maginnis (Ogden Starr), and Ruth Maginnis Blum (Richard K.); grandchildren Kingsley Blum and Wilson Blum; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A native of New Orleans, Malcolm was graduated from Avon Old Farms in Connecticut and the Roosevelt Aviation School on Long Island. He served in WW2 with the Army Air Force in Europe. A resident of Covington since 1969 on the land on which he grew up, he enjoyed life on both sides of the lake. His chief joy, next to his wife, was his shop in the woods holding enough tools to fix anything of any size, which he was happy to do for anyone just for the challenge. A life member of the Louisiana Club, he was also a former member of the Boston Club, Recess Club, Lakeshore Club and several Carnival organizations. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service from Christ Episcopal Chapel, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, January 4, 2012 at 12:00. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 11 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avon Old Farms School, Christ Episcopal Church, Covington, or the organization of your choice. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ===================
