Adrian H. “Papa Smurf” Mendow passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, 
December 28, 2012 at the age of 77.

Former husband of Kathy Kustenmacher and the late Clara Anne Guillory. Loving 
father of Jacqueline A. Mendow, Dionne M. Lauck (Eric), Herman “Andy” A. 
Mendow, Jr. (Melinda), Heidi M. Lawrence (Steven), Sean Prokasy (Ashley), 
Shannon Prokasy (Beth) and the late Frank A. Mendow. Son of the late Rose 
Holden Mendow and Frank Max Mendow. Brother of Dorothy “Dot” Cleland and the 
late Juanita, Frank, Raymond and Joe Mendow. Grandfather of Ryan VanderBos, 
Ashley Revere, Jenna Lauck, Julia Lauck, Melissa McNeely, Steven McNeely, Jaxon 
Lawrence, Addison Lawrence, Grant Prokasy, Collin Prokasy, Emery Prokasy, 
Mitchell Prokasy and the late William VanderBos. Great-grandfather of Keenan 
VanderBos and Karter VanderBos.

Mr. Mendow is a seventh generation northshore resident where he was the owner 
and founder of Mendow Construction.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on 
Friday, January 4, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte 
St., Mandeville, LA 70448 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Thursday evening at 
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 from 5:00 PM 
until 8:00 PM and at church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until Mass time.

Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
