Known as “Trey” by his family. Beloved only son of George and Saundra Powers and brother of Lolita Guyllette (Daniel). He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William C. Powers, Sr. and Katie Powers of Port Gibson, MS; by maternal grandparents Edward and Alice Jaggers of Bedford, IN and sister Lisa Anne Powers of Slidell, LA. He is also survived by his aunts Peggy Andrews, Anne Powers, Bettina Randolph (Charles); uncle Lawrence Jaggers (Brenda); niece Christina Guyllette; great niece Sophia Adams; cousins April Rothery (w/children Matther and Alexi) and Robert Andrews (Amanda w/children Brieana and Sadie) plus numerous other cousins. Will, also known as “Big Will” or “Big Dog”, to friends, was born on Mother’s Day May 8, 1977 in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA. He made his longest trip from Norfolk, VA to Gretna, LA when his father retired from the Navy, after 20 years, on November 16, 1979 in the folded down back of a 1993 Rambler Station Wagon. He attained the rank of Webelos in the Boy Scouts and earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He attended John Ehret High School in Marrero, LA. For years, Will worked construction; as groundskeeper at the Zoo; stocker for Wal-Mart in Slidell, LA; driver for Buck’s Pizza in Pearl River, LA; as cook at The Landing in Slidell, LA; and was currently Shift Manager/Driver for Pizza Hut in Pearl River, LA. Will was very easy going, hard to rile and like to joke around. He loved animals and passed two beautiful cats to his mother. He was an avid collector; all things Saints and Notre Dame; model cars and had over 3000 DVD’s. He was also a Saints Season Ticket Owner. He and his father had planned a “Football Day” on January 7, 2013 when Notre Dame plays Alabama. Will was so proud of his new Dodge Truck and had planned his first trip to Disney World next summer. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00am. Visitation will be from 9:00am until 11:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the fight against Cancer.
