Survivors include his wife, Shirley Reynaud Simpson; children and their spouses, Ellis Simpson, Mary Simpson and Michael Landry, David and Rachel Simpson, Lori Simpson-Winborn and Jeff Winborn, Robert and Anne Simpson, Paul and Sybil Simpson, and Christopher and Liz Simpson, and 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson and his parents, Joe Frank Simpson and Margaret Venable. The Mississippi native had been a Covington resident for 43 years. The pathologist and U.S. Army National Guard colonel with the 159th M.A.S.H. was a Knights of Columbus member. A wake will be Dec. 27 from 6-8 p.m., with the rosary commencing at 6 p.m., at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington. A funeral Mass will be Dec. 28 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m., at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Abita Cemetery. Masses may be offered for the soul of the departed at any Catholic parish. Memorial donations may be made to Mysterium Fidei Latin Mass Society, 1305 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA, 70471.
