Vivien Sr., 79, of Purvis, Miss., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012. Survivors include his wife and high school sweetheart, Evella “Snooky” N. Abney Vivien, whom he married in 1955; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles L. and Bonnie Vivien Jr., of Katy, Texas, and Michael L. and Tina Vivien of Purvis, Miss.; daughters, Pamela Keaton of Tylertown, Miss., and Deborah Anne Vivien of New Orleans; sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia and Melvin Champagne of Destrehan, and Aline Hebert of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Jerrod Venable, Elise Toups, Chad Vivien, Karl Vivien, Sam Vivien, Whitney Campbell and Isabelle Vivien; aunt, Lou Finneran, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aline Leftwich and Lloyd E. Vivien Sr., and brother, Lloyd “Mickey” E. Vivien Jr. The graduate of Slidell High School and Louisiana State University taught math and agriculture for two years at Fifth Ward Junior High before becoming an owner and managing partner of Hermadel Ranch and actively participating in all aspects of the industry. He was elected to the American Polled Hereford Association’s Board of Directors, which recognized and honored him by holding the “Standard of Perfection Polled Hereford Show” in 1978. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially flying, and over the years owned several small planes, including his favorite: a Piper Tripacer. After retiring he enjoyed playing golf at Pine Creek in Purvis, Miss., and made a hole-in-one at Royal Golf Course in Slidell. In his later years, he became a master woodworker and generously shared his artistic talent by showering friends and loved ones with furniture and custom pieces. A Mass of Christian burial will be Dec. 22 at noon at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Celebrants will be Fathers Tommy Conway and Godfrey Andoh. Interment will be Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 W. Gause Blvd., Slidell. In lieu of flowers, donations requested to: St. Thomas Building Fund, 3117 W. 4th St., Hattiesburg, MS, 39401. Moore Funeral Home of Hattiesburg, Miss., is handling arrangements. ===================
