Caro, age 92, passed into eternal rest with his loving God and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 14, 2013. Born in New Orleans March 11, 1920, son of Samuel Caro and Anna Federico, he graduated from Jesuit High and Loyola University in New Orleans. He married his loving wife in 1942, having 69 years of marital happiness until her passing in July 2011. In WWII he served with the Army Air Corps “Fighting Tigers” in the Pacific. When he returned from the war, he managed a successful family business, Southern Tailoring Co. with his father and later his son, Fred Caro Jr. He was a faithful member of St. Pius X in Lakeview and Holy Name of Jesus on St. Charles Ave. His disposition was cheerful, optimistic and loving, and his kindness and affection was showered upon all those he came in contact with. His leisure was spent enjoying family and friends, golfing, boating and fishing. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be greatly missed by his two children and spouses, Fred and Dione Caro of Slidell, Carole and Marty Wonsiewicz of Trumbull, CT; sister, Rose Newton of Beaumont, TX (100 years old), sister-and brother-in-law, Frances and Andrew Allen of Tyler TX, grandchildren: Emily and Chris Wonsiewicz of Trumbull CT, Fred and Tara Caro of Slidell, Gwen Schade of Charleston, W. VA. and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his faithful friend and home nurse, Laura Van Someren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Caro of Pass Christian, MS and Margaret “Dee” Blandino of Metairie. Funeral Services will be held at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00am. Burial will be in Lakelawn Park Mausoleum in New Orleans. ===================
