Belle was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald D. King, Sr. and her parents, Arthur C. Lemane, Sr. and Hazel Smith Lemane. She is survived by her children: Suzanne King Hughson of Covington; Gerald D. King, Jr. of Covington; and Janel Kmitch (Gordon), grandson Justin Kmitch (Jen), granddaughter Jenna Kate Kmitch, and great-grandson Griffin Kmitch, all of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her brother, Arthur C. Lemane, Jr. (Gail) of Covington and by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Belle was born in New Orleans and at age 18 after graduation from E. D. White High School, moved to Covington with her family when her father retired from the New Orleans Police Dept. She didn’t like leaving the big city and moving to the “country,” but there she met Jerry King, a soldier from Buffalo, New York on leave down south, at a dance at Jim’s on Claiborne Hill. They married in 1944 and lived for a time in San Antonio (Kelly AFB), Orchard Park, NY, and finally back to Covington where they settled and raised a family. She worked at the St. Tammany Parish Library and the Louisiana State Welfare Office. Belle moved to The Trace Independent Living Community in Covington in 2011, ironically overlooking the very house she moved to in 1941. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle devotee, and birdwatcher. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeshore Hospice, 2659 N. Causeway Blvd., Mandeville, LA 70471 are preferred. ===================
