WILLIAM R. KNOTT, born May 6, 1923 in East Point, GA, died at the age of 89 on 
January 4, 2013. 

He graduated from Russell High School in East Point, GA. He then entered the 
Army Air Corps in WWII and continued to serve in the Louisiana Army National 
Guard until he retired as a Command Sergeant Major. 
After his service in WWII he was a U.S. Postal employee in New Orleans until 
retirement. 
He has been a resident of Louisiana for 70 years, living in New Orleans until 
1974 and then in Slidell for the remainder of his life. 
He was a handyman who could fix anything and excellent carpenter who loved to 
build things.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Stephen Knott and Willie Belle 
Whittle; his brothers, Glen and Jesse Knott; and his sisters, Mary Thigpen, 
Jimmie Brewer, and Ann Holt. 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice M. Knott; his daughters, 
Joanne K. Noel (Elroy), Dianne K. Wiley (Kevon); 2 grandsons, Chris Noel 
(Katye) and Jason Noel (Kate); 6 great grandchildren, Andrew, Geoffrey, Adam, 
Elise, Emma, and Justin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial mass at 
St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell, LA 70458 on 
Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held at church from 
12:00pm until 2:00pm.
