Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Josephine Sharp Lala; children and daughter-in-law, Debra, Rebecca, and Eric and Debbie Lala; siblings, Pete, Dorothy and Anna Mae; grandchildren, Gabriel, Erica, Hamilton, Natalie and Michael, and great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Riley, Logan and Kalli. He was born in New Orleans with 16 brothers and sisters and served as a young man in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Bell South for 36 years. He had a passion for horse racing and loved playing baccarat, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and playing his role as “Papalala” to his grandchildren, inventing new games and turning any event into a good time. He had bravely confronted and fought kidney disease. His legacy continues on today. “As a wise man, he taught us to look to the past to add to our wisdom and enjoy each waking moment.” The family will have a private memorial service later. Serenity Funeral Home of Covington is handling arrangements. ===================
