She was born in Mandeville, LA on December 21, 1909 to the late Walter Peter Villere and the late Alys Louise Colomb Villere. She was a resident of New Orleans for 99 years before returning to the Northshore to spend the last years of her life near her family. The wife of the late Gerard O. Salassi, Jr., she was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nancy Salassi Lopiccolo, grandson David Lopiccolo, and her sister Mathilde (Pat) Villere Wright. She is survived by one son, Gerard O. Salassi, III (Marie); seven grandchildren: Frank Lopiccolo, III (Michele), Kenneth Lopiccolo (Brenda), Alys Melancon, Rita Atencio, Stephen Salassi (Angele), Suzie Lenfant (Rodney) and Gerard O. Salassi, IV (Dixie). In addition, she is survived by 15 great grandchildren: Ryan Lopiccolo (Kaitlin), Frank Lopiccolo, IV, Emory Lopiccolo, Cole Lopiccolo, Paul Melancon,III, Pierre Melancon, Nancy Melancon, Villere Salassi, Sean Salassi, Aislin Salassi, Eric Lenfant, Lauren Lenfant, Collins Lenfant, Lindsay Salassi and Christian Salassi. Alys was a graduate of Sophie Wright High School, a parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and a member of the Orleans Club. She was affectionately known as “Num” to her family and to the friends of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a love of the outdoors, enjoyed many travels, and cherished spending time with her family. The family will celebrate Num’s life and legacy with a private ceremony and sincerely thank the many special caregivers and friends she had late in life. E.J.
