Reginald Gordon Booth (ret.) passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013. He was born January 23, 1921 in New Orleans to the late Reginald G. and Coletta Huff Booth and has been a resident of Mandeville for 23 years. The beloved husband of Grace Gervais Booth, he is survived by three sons: Reginald G., Jr. (Gwendel), Donald P. (Mary) and Barry J. Booth (Karen); four grandchildren: Lloyd (Olivia) and Britt Booth, Mandy Saladino (Anthony) and Jennifer Edelman (Max); one great grandson, Jay Booth and one sister, Laura C. Lips. He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley B. Fisher. Colonel Booth, a veteran of World War II, began his military career by enlisting in the Louisiana National Guard upon graduation from Warren Easton High School in 1939. He entered Federal service in 1941 as a member of the 141st Field Artillery Regiment or otherwise known as the Washington Artillery. After the War he accepted full time employment in the Military Department of Louisiana at Jackson Barracks. By 1966 he was promoted to Colonel and served as Director, Operations and Training, Military Department, State of Louisiana for 18 years until his retirement in 1976. He had an impressive career, was a decorated officer and was proud of his service to his country. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 8, 2013 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Friday will begin at 10:00 AM until time of services. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.
