Lucille “Mawzie” Poirier Cousins died Jan. 27 at the age of 89.

Survivors include her children and their spouses Richard R. Cousins II (the 
late Patsy Cousins), Gwendolyn Fousch (Bobby), Gary Cousins (Sheryl) and 
Kathleen Pellegrini (Gene).

She is also survived nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Roger Poirier, mother and step-
father, Maude and Charles Vicknair, her sister, Maxine Machen, and her husband 
and love of her life Richard R. Cousins Jr.

She was born in New Orleans and was named Miss New Orleans Junior in 1938 at 
the age of 14.

Family and friends are invited to attend memorial services at St. John of the 
Cross Catholic Church, 61051 Brier Lake Drive in Lacombe, La., 70445, Saturday, 
Feb. 16. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 11 a.m. 

Family would like to thank the staff of the Guest House of Slidell and 
Lakeshore Hospice.
