Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Susan Anthony, Frederick “Yancey” Edward III, Brian and Murrel Francis, Mark and Connie Gerard, John Christopher, Philip and Rebecca James, Paul and Sandy Joseph, Gregory and Lisa Michael, Joseph and Cathi Martin, Peter and Mary Dennis, and Denis Jerome; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick “Fred” Edward de Veer Jr., of Opelousas, and siblings, James, Anthony, Kathleen, Alice and Annie, all of the United Kingdom. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she attended Notre Dame Teacher’s College and met her husband, who was a World War II soldier serving overseas. They married in 1947 at St. James Major Catholic Church in Gentilly and lived on Peoples Avenue, where she was content to reside until Aug. 29, 2005. She remained a faithful founding member of St. Raphael Catholic Church for more than 50 years and of St. Peter of Covington post-Katrina. She died as she had lived, surrounded by loving family and faithful to Christ and His Church. Her light shines perpetually through her good work. The funeral Mass will be held Feb. 28 at noon, with visitation starting at 11 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of deveer-marythe Poor in Mobile, Ala. Interment will immediately follow at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans. ===================
