Emanuel McClelland Jr., 79, a retired forklift operator and mechanic for 
Folger’s Coffee Company, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Bernice Banks McClelland; sister, 
Jessie Mae Herron of Jayess, Miss.; daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia M. Carter 
of Slidell, Debra and Jerome Wilson of Oma, Miss., and Alicia M. Valair of Las 
Vegas; sons, Marquis Jones of Austin, Texas, and Taurean McClelland of Slidell; 
nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and five sisters-in-law and 
three brothers-in-law.

He was born in Jayess, Miss., and had lived in Slidell for 56 years. He was a 
member of Hartzell Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and a master mason of 
Parson’s Lodge No. 45, PHA, a 32nd Degree Sublime Prince in the Masonic Order 
and a member of Eureka Consistory No. 7. He also held memberships in Parson’s 
Royal Arch, Red Lodge, Platta Temple No. 15, Bogalusa Northshore Shriners Club 
Dune Buggy Patrol, King Solomon Chapter No. 122, and Order of Eastern Star and 
Heroines of Jericho, Joshua No. 50.

A life celebration will be held Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at Hartzell Mt. Zion United 
Methodist Church, 41040 Louisiana Highway 190 E., Slidell. A home-going service 
will be held Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 33 Price 
Road, Jayess, Miss. 

Burial will be in Salem MBC Memorial Cemetery.

Doyle’s Funeral Home of Slidell is in charge of the arrangements.
