Jean Kendall Roquemore passed away Tuesday February 12, 2013 surrounded by her
family at the age of 89 after a short illness at the Louisiana Heart Hospital. 

She resided in Pearl River, Louisiana. Jean was born in Ennis, Texas on January 
25, 1924 to Dick and Duia Woods Kendall, where she enjoyed a delightful 
childhood growing up on a dairy farm outside of Ennis. 
Jean received her degree in nursing from Baylor University in Waco, TX. 
Jean, a Registered Nurse, practiced at Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, TX 
prior to marriage. 
She left the nursing field in 1953 to raise her three children and later 
returned to nursing at Hinds General Hospital in Jackson, MS. 

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack Newton Roquemore. 

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Rogers, son Sam Kendall Roquemore, 
daughter Lynda Roquemore Murrah, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild. 
Mary Ann Rogers’ children; Kendall, Whitney and Shea and a grandson Jalen. Sam 
Roquemore’s children; Sasha, Elizabeth, and Jack. Lynda Murrah’s children; 
Samantha, Aimee’, and James and a grandson expected in March. 

Jean, a prolific porcelain china painter, enjoyed her artwork for over twenty-
five years after retirement. She participated in the porcelain art clubs in 
Midland, TX, Lafayette and Pearl River, LA. 

Jean was not only our loving Mother but a friend and fun-filled companion to 
all. "For every season turn turn turn…."

A private family memorial will be held in May in Pearl River, Louisiana. 

She will rest alongside her late husband, Jack, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in 
Carthage, Texas.
