Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Derwin Whitfield; grandchildren, Eric, Drew and Steven; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Graham, Noah, Jackson and Evie, and nieces, Jane Sones Kleinschmidt and Judy Sones Beall. She was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Addie Wheat Mitchell; sons, Perry Wallace and Steven Patrick Samrow, and sister, Marie Mitchell Sones. The native of Pearl River County, Miss., was a receptionist at the University of Southern Mississippi for about 35 years and a Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house mother. She was a Crosspoint Community Church member and a real people person who loved cooking and sending cards for all occasions. She always was taking care of people and had a very positive upbeat attitude. She loved her family and always was present for anything involving her family. She really lived up to her name, spreading joy everywhere she went. Funeral services will be held Feb. 10 at 2 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m. and Feb. 9 from 6-9 p.m., at Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Flat Top Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home of Picayune, Miss. The Rev. Arthur Lee will officiate the service, assisted by Dr. Dean Register. ===================
