Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carmela Wellman; children and their spouse, Leslie and Brian Larsen and Kristine and Michael Bercot; grandchildren, Sarah Polk, Laura, Julia, Gage and Cayleigh Larsen, Andrew, Brendan, Carson and Vanessa Bercot; close family friend, Trece Larsen, and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Taylor and Luttie Wellman; daughter, Leslie; brothers, Ralph, Luke and Donald Wellman, and sisters, Mary Belle Midkiff and Myrtie Bromley. The native of Louisa, Ky., had been a Slidell resident for the past 32 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a seabee and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received a mechanical engineering degree from Indiana Institute of Technology, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and a master’s degree at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. He worked in the space industry and retired from Lockheed Martin. He was a member of the American Legion Post 374, Joppa Shrine Temple, Biloxi, Ms., Pierre Georges’ Rousseau Chapter Louisiana Society, Sons of the American Revolution, and served on the Slidell Board of Zoning Adjustments. He also was an active member of First United Methodist Church. The memorial service will be March 2 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger St., Slidell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund. ===================
